No, they're not as good as the Mystery Case Files series but they're damn good in their own right. Each game have interesting historically based stories with hidden object goodness, mini games and bonus levels. There are even Steam Achievements. I also recommend Sherlock Homes: Hound of the Baskervilles and Season of Mystery: The Cherry Blossom Murders if you're looking for HOG games with Achievements.. Certainly my favorite story of the four part series, but again it's the same game elements as 2 and 3--nothing new to be found.. I can not wait to add to this series of games , I have all of them including the edgar allen poe but still having issues with it , as far as this one and the others in the series , I love it and I am looking forward to adding to my collection , I recently found out that there is a midnight mysteries ghost writer and I can not wait to see it here on steam, the series is full of history as well as mystery and surprises - looking forward to more :) they all run great on windows 10 except one that i first mentioned but that isnt worth whining about since the others in the series make up for where that one lacks :P I am just glad I was able to help Mr. Houdini , collecting the police officers was kind of off the wall though lol very entertaining to say the least lol and the puzzles and riddles do make one think and I really love how the whole thing is strung together , keep up the good work and I will keep looking forward to additions in the series. awesome game. so much fun and such a cool story line. Very enjoyable game.... Loved the graphics and animated backgrounds...Story takes a bit of getting into but once you know the backgeound of whats going on its enjoyable...... This is my first HOG in years...Played the game and all the extras took my time as you can see and managed 13 hours of fun. Long time but took ages on the bonus stage haha. Tentative positive. It's not great, but for genre junkies like me, it's worth a play (especially on sale). It's a good passtime for a few hours, especially if you complete everything.For one thing, it's the most challenging Midnight Mysteries yet. It's still extremely linear, and woe be to he who forgets to click a clover before solving a puzzle, but getting through the game and the bonuses can lead to some hair loss, without feeling like it's been overly unfair.The only exception is the quality of the Hidden Object scenes themselves; they're very substandard, with almost everything being brown-ish, a low resolution that makes it nearly impossible to differentiate, and an inordinate number of things aren't in logical locations. One of the touches that was nice about #3 was that everything looked drawn and rendered just for the scene; here there's lots of re-used objects with wrong lighting or hidden in edges they would never be in real life. In other words, it's lazy.The plot and writing is definitely better than Devil on the Mississippi, but not by much. The character graphics are about the same, still no voice acting. Don't play for the story, obviously, but I do appreciate their fresh takes on real historical controversies\/conspiracy theories, and it actually kind of worked this time around.. Best of the series so far. If you liked the previous 3, you'll love this one. Great story.. This is probably my favorite of the Midnight Mysteries games. The resolution is very good, and the puzzles pretty well tied to the Houdini theme. If there's one complaint, that would be not enough Hidden Object puzzles in the story mode. I like this series, and hope they make more.. An enjoyable Hidden Object Point and Click game, that has a nice mix of fact and fiction. Good graphics, nice music and the HOG puzzles are mixed nicely in with other puzzles. Lots of Houdini and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle references in all the puzzles too which added to the story for me.
